Our programme of events and activities is put together every six months

Meet the Politicians
The President of Tynwald the Hon. Noel Cringle and the Chief Minister, the Hon.Tony Brown.
Wednesday May 14. This event will be held in the Civic Centre at 7.30

Langness and the Age of the Earth
A look at the rocks on the west coast of Langness.
Leader: Juan Watterson, Emeritus Professor of geology, Liverpool University
Saturday June 28th Meet at Langness Car Park at 2pm.

Visit to the Garden of Billown Mansion House

The estate has been extensively re-modelled and extended since Mr Whittaker has owned it, and includes lakes with some beautiful black swans together with enclosed gardens and an orchard.
Saturday July 26th 2 to 4pm

There is no need to book and the visit is free of charge.  The gardens can be accessed from either entrance to the estate. There is limited access for those with mobility difficulties. 

It is advised that those with such difficulties enter the estate at the Malew Street entrance turning right immediately after the back & white cottage, ignoring the No Parking sign. Please park on the left side of the pathway.  Please do not drive over the bridge and keep the bridge area clear as a turning circle.

For all others, and those entering from Colby/Ballabeg, continue along the drive and bear right  towards the house.  There should be enough parking space, but it is essential that cars are parked neatly on the balustrade side of the drive. Please do not park on the grass.

A visit to Kentraugh Mill by kind permission of Rev. Canon and Mrs Sheen. Saturday September 13th Meet at entrance at 2pm. Admission £3 includes refreshments. Numbers are limited to 30. If you wish to attend please inform Elsie Pickard on 822142 before September 10th.

A Life Time of Farming Harvey Briggs, the well loved farmer and farming correspondent to the local Press. He will be the second recipient of the Tynwald Honour at this years Tynwald  Day. Wednesday October 15th
This event will be held in the Church Rooms at St Mary's on the Harbour, Castletown, at 7.30.

Unless otherwise stated, all events and activities are free to all - we are a charity, and part of our mission is to spread knowledge and research as widely as possible.
